Graphic Design -- RandomBunch

Blender3D and Photoshop

Bilge Rats--A pirate themed Facebook game, written in HTML.  I asked the developer of Random Bunch Software, Richard, if he wanted any help with graphics.  He was using photos from the internet at the time.  He said sure.  After a brief discussion, it was decided that I would do some back-up graphics for his game.  In no time at all, I was Lead Designer, ultimately Creative Director,  and ultimately, and something I never considered, a game programmer (flash) and developer.  I included my Blender 3D work, since it drove and expanded the capabilities of the Facebook game.  Working for Random Bunch was one of the most expansive and inspiring jobs I have ever had.  When Richard passed away, his company closed the doors.  A few of the graphics I made for his game are below.

As a side note: It's difficult to explain how we could get away with putting a pumpkin shooter (and a war ship carrying alien space ships) into a pirate based game, but it was our game and people loved the variations.

I was using Blender 3D to model most of the graphics.  After A time, I asked Richard if we could put an animation in.  He said ok.  So I made a fireworks scene for the first 3D animation.  We built from there, eventually creating 3D animated gifs to use from time to time.  The 4th of July scene and some of the gifs can be viewed on youtube:

The Mine Cart Game, 3D graphics, animation and game play.  First image shows the placement in the game frame.  The game was HTML, but this particular project broke some serious boundaries.  The concept started as a basic point and shoot (collect the gold coins) game.  It was modeled and animated in Blender 3D, played in a flash window and viewed within an HTML platform.  People said it couldn't be done.  We did it.

Two screen shots show the text and layout as a main enhancement to the game.  Additional enhancements in these frames included the boarders of the fighter images.
